Nous savons que le coup de Vénus était gagnant au jeu d’osselets : il apporte la victoire dans Plaute (Asinaria, 905) ; Auguste, cité par Suétone (Auguste, 71), et Properce (Elégies, IV, 8, 45) l’opposent au coup perdant du chien ; d’après Horace (Odes, II, 7, 25), il désigne le roi du festin.
